Carol Hammond

Carol came to Thunderbird in 1996 and previously held positions in the libraries at UCLA, Gonzaga University and ASU-West; she holds degrees from Colorado State University, the University of Illinois, and Gonzaga University. She has published articles on the information needs of working professionals, non-traditional students, teaching information competency skills, and other topics. Carol has held a variety of offices including President of the Arizona Library Association, President of the Mountain-Plains Library Association, and serves on the Council of the American Library Association. Her responsibilities include administration of the IBIC and its programs, as well as library support for all of the degree programs in other locations.


Electronic Resources Librarian
Wes Edens

In addition to his duties as a business researcher, Wes evaluates and selects electronic resources for the School. He holds an MBA from Arizona State University and a Master of Library Science degree from the University of Arizona. Prior to Thunderbird, Wes was Business Librarian/Bibliographer for the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. He has also worked as a reference librarian for Pima Community College in Tucson, Arizona. Publications include: "An International Information Gateway: Thunderbird's Intranet for Teaching, Learning and Research" (with Carol Hammond, Ann Tolzman, and Cate Cebrowski) in Advances in Library Administration and Organization, October 1997; and "World Database of Business Information Sources on the Web", a review for the November/December 1998 issue of Business Information Alert. In addition, Wes was interviewed by Mary Ellen Bates in the 2001 book, Super Searchers Cover the World: The Online Secrets of International Business Researchers, published by Eight Bit Books. He is a member of the Special Libraries Association, the Mountain Plains Library Association, and the Arizona Libraries Association.


Instructional Programs Librarian
Renee Smith

Renee Smith is the Instructional Programs Librarian at Thunderbird School of Global Management. With education, training and experience that traverses several fields, social studies, education and library and information science, and includes professional work abroad, Renee brings a favorable frame of reference to her role at the International Business and Information Centre.

Prior to joining the IBIC in January 2009, Renee was a public librarian in Nottinghamshire, England.  While in the United Kingdom, Renee also volunteered as an advisor to the library and records retention staff of a Fortune 200 company. Formerly Renee served as both an elementary and secondary education history teacher in Virginia and New York. Renee is a member of Chartered Institute of Library and Information.

Renee belongs to the American Library Association and the Association of College and Research Libraries, in addition to other professional groups. Renee received a master of library and information science degree from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. She earned a master of education and a bachelor's degree in social studies from the State University of New York, New Paltz.  Renee holds State Board of Education teacher certifications in both New York and Virginia.


Collection Development Librarian
Robert Forman

Robert Forman is Collection Development Librarian at the Thunderbird School of Global Management. He earned a Master of Science in Library and Information Science from the Catholic University of America, and a Master of Business Administration from Thunderbird School of Global Management. Given his dual background, in information science and in business, Robert is focused on the value and leveraging of information in a business context. As a librarian, he has a strong ethic in the provision of information and information services. Robert was formerly Director of The National Equal Justice Library at Washington College of Law, and he has worked in telecommunications, building wide area networks for schools and libraries in New Mexico.
